Troubleshooting

Start with the smallest test that isolates whether the problem comes from the source, network, device, storage, display chain, or an IPTuner setting.

Playback is buffering or will not start

  1. Confirm the same source is currently reachable and your provider credentials are valid.
  2. Try another channel or title from the same source.
  3. If practical, test another known-working source to separate provider/network problems from app behavior.
  4. Return Bandwidth Preference and buffer-related settings to their normal/default mode if you recently changed them.
  5. Use playback diagnostics when you contact support; do not send provider passwords or private stream URLs.

HDR video looks unusually dark

Start with Settings > Player > HDR compatibility > Automatic. If a display, receiver, switch, splitter, or HDMI chain reports HDR incorrectly and video remains dark, try Convert HDR to SDR. Use Always preserve HDR only as a troubleshooting override for a capable HDR setup.

Pause or rewind says history is not ready

Timeshift needs eligible Live playback, an enabled activation mode, usable storage, and enough local history. In On demand mode, history begins when pause/rewind functionality is explicitly requested.

A past Guide programme will not play

Historical Guide browsing is supported, but provider archive/Catch-Up playback is currently safety-gated. This is expected behavior in the reviewed production source.

Before contacting support

  • Note your device model and Android/Fire OS version.
  • Describe what screen you were on and the exact action that failed.
  • Include the visible error message.
  • Mention whether the issue affects one source/item or everything.
  • Do not send provider usernames, passwords, playlist URLs, or raw stream URLs.
Can I play every past programme from the Guide?

No. Historical Guide browsing and Catch-Up metadata/indicators are available, but provider archive/Catch-Up playback is currently safety-gated in the reviewed production source. Selecting a past programme should leave current playback untouched.

Why does pause or rewind say the timeshift buffer is not ready?

Timeshift needs an eligible Live stream, an enabled activation mode, usable storage, and enough local history. IPTuner reports when the requested seek window does not exist yet instead of pretending it is available.

What happens if encoded audio output cannot initialize?

The current playback reliability path can use a bounded request-scoped PCM fallback for an exact encoded-output initialization failure when the persisted output mode is Auto or Passthrough. It does not silently change the saved preference.

Will HDR conversion work on every device and every stream?

No. HDR behavior depends on the source format, device/API level, decoder capability, television, and HDMI chain. IPTuner does not promise one conversion path on every setup.

Why can Configuration Backup use a file picker when recording folders cannot on Fire TV?

They use different Android storage contracts. Configuration Backup uses file-level Save/Open document APIs. Recording-folder selection uses a directory-tree contract that is intentionally disabled on Fire OS.

Are provider credentials included in normal diagnostics?

They are intended to be excluded. Provider URLs and credentials are treated as secrets; diagnostic stream identifiers use derived IDs and URL-shaped detail text is redacted before diagnostic CSV output.

What should I avoid sending in a support request?

Do not send provider usernames or passwords, playlist URLs containing credentials, private stream URLs, API tokens, or other secrets. Describe the visible error and the affected device/source behavior instead.

What should I check first if everything is buffering?

Confirm that the source is currently reachable, try another item from the same source, and—if practical—test another known-working source. This helps separate provider/network problems from an app-specific problem. If you contact support, include the visible error and device details but not private source URLs or credentials.
